Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia is looking for passionate, community-driven individuals to join our leadership team! We're currently recruiting for four exciting volunteer roles: Director of Bowling, Director of Billiards, Events & Gaming Director, and League Operations Director. These positions offer a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our league, connect with our community, and make a meaningful impact. The Director of Bowling serves as a member of the Stonewall Sports-Philadelphia Board for a 2-year term with the opportunity to continue the role for additional terms. This role is responsible for overseeing bowling operations which includes:
Being present or on call during scheduled bowling events. This includes: bowling tournaments, t-shirt pick-up, end-of-the-season party, etc.
Working with League Operations Director to communicate and manage the relationship with host facility staff through staying in communication, responding to feedback, and ensuring a positive experience for Stonewall Sports members.
Being fully knowledgeable of all Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia bowling rules.
Recruiting, selecting, training, and supporting League Management during the season. Including WTNB Bowling Coordinators.
In collaboration with League Management, serve as the bowling relations liaison between players and the Board to support the member experience.
Creating league schedule through LeagueApps.
Planning and executing End of Season tournament.
Ensuring scoring is maintained and updated consistently on LeagueApps.
Maintaining inventory of and ensuring the safe handling all supplies.
Logging all injuries, reporting to the League Operations Director, and following up with members.
Logging all challenges regarding sportsmanship and speaking directly to members as issues arise to mitigate challenges and ensure they do not occur again.
Additionally, by serving as a member of the Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia Board, the position is expected to:
Uphold the mission of Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia.
Attend monthly Board Meetings typically on Monday or Tuesday night from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Participate in additional meetings and calls as needed between scheduled Board Meetings.
Support Stonewall social events, leagues, communication efforts, charities, and sponsors as able or requested to throughout the year.
Commit 2-10 hours a week to Stonewall Sports activities depending on time of year.
While engaging in Stonewall Sports, serve as a model member of the Stonewall community through exhibiting sportsmanship, promoting inclusivity, and building community with our league members and the Philadelphia LGBTQIA community at large.
This role is perfect for a member of the Stonewall Community who is passionate about bowling and is looking forward to leading our league. You’re a motivated self starter who is comfortable working in a team environment and managing the efforts of other contributors. You’re excited to be present during league nights and make sure Stonewall Bowlers have a great experience!
You’ll begin shadowing our outgoing Bowling Director as he finishes out his term.
You’ll take an active role in planning the summer season schedule and working with league management to provide a seamless transition into your new role.
Your term as a voting board member will officially start on 1/1/26.

The Events & Gaming Director serves as a member of the Stonewall Sports-Philadelphia Board for a 2 year term with the opportunity to continue the role for additional terms. This role is responsible for overseeing the work of the Events & Gaming Committee and leading the planning and implementation of Stonewall events which includes:
Supporting and directing the Events & Gaming Committee, a team of active members of the Stonewall Sports-Philadelphia community comprised of:
3-4 Events Committee members
3 Gaming Coordinators: 1 Board Game Night Coordinator, 1 Video Game Night Coordinator, 1 D&D Night Coordinator
Leading the planning and implementation of Stonewall Sport’s events including the Ball, Pride Nights with local sports teams, and socials with other organizations
Maintain the organization’s events calendar in collaboration with the League Operations Director
Oversee the management of the Trivia program, including selecting Trivia Hosts, ensuring season schedules are set and communicated, and occasionally guest hosting Trivia if a regular host is unavailable
Note that as Events & Gaming Director you are not eligible to be a regular trivia host or be compensated for guest hosting.
Collaborating and consulting with the Communications Director, Sponsorship & Fundraising Director, and Finance Director to ensure effective event implementation
Improving event attendance, inclusivity, and engagement by members of the Stonewall community and greater Philadelphia community through planning and marketing
Working closely with the Diversity & Inclusion Director and Education Director in planning and aligning the work of Stonewall committees
Building on existing and establishing new partnerships to improve events
Exploring opportunities to expand Stonewall Sports social offerings to increase partnerships with local charities and organize events that center on non-drinking focused activities
Additionally, by serving as a member of the Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia Board, the position is expected to:

Ideally you have some experience coordinating large scale events but that’s not a deal breaker!
What you’ll do in your first month:
Work with members of the Board to learn about the role, timeline for events, and items that are currently planned
Meet the existing Events Committee members and begin planning committee meetings
Help us recruit and select Gaming Coordinators

The League Operations Director serves as a member of the Stonewall Sports-Philadelphia Board for a 1 year term with the opportunity to continue for 3 additional terms. The League Operations Director serves as an officer in the organization and is the Vice President of Stonewall Sports, Philadelphia as currently defined in the bylaws. This role is responsible for overseeing activities related to Stonewall leagues & program operations including:
Providing support to League Directors who oversee kickball, dodgeball, volleyball (Grass/Indoor/Sand), bowling, billiards, bocce, pickleball and trivia, yoga, and Stonewall In Motion.
Developing a comprehensive and consistent vision for the Stonewall experience across all leagues and programs.
Working with the Commissioner to draft yearly league schedules and registration timelines.
Managing registration processes from setup to closing for all leagues & programs while assisting members with questions and challenges related to registration.
Working with captains to ensure team capacity requirements are met, t-shirts are ordered, and teams receive all required preseason communication.
Overseeing successful implementation of leagues through supporting Directors to lead League Management teams, league events, day of play, manage inventory of league equipment, and all league scheduling logistics.
Reviewing and responding to member feedback about league experience and making recommendations to the league/program Directors & the Stonewall Board.
Being knowledgeable of all Stonewall Sports-Philadelphia league rules and ensuring they remain updated and facilitate a positive member experience.
Maintaining a log of all challenges regarding sportsmanship and speaking directly to members as issues arise to mitigate challenges and ensure they do not occur again.
Maintaining a log of all injuries, reporting to Commissioner, and following up with members.
Providing feedback regarding league related communication sent to players.
Overseeing t-shirt orders and coordinating t-shirt pickup for leagues.
Collaborating with Member Experience Director to support free agent teams, new members, and communication regarding to player challenges.
Supporting, coordinating, and uplifting women's, trans, and non-binary (WTNB) leagues through leadership selection support, season scheduling, and
Serve in place of the Commissioner when need arises, leading meetings and serving in an advisory capacity to the board.

Commit 6-10 hours a week to Stonewall Sports activities/duties depending on time of year.

Support Stonewall social events, leagues, communication efforts, nonprofit partners, and sponsors as able or requested to throughout the year.

You’re an experienced Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia player with a passion for our leagues and the player experience. You take a project management approach to work and have an eye for detail and an ability to see the bigger picture. You have experience leading others and working together on a team to achieve goals.
What you’ll do in your first month:
Dive in and learn about the various Leagues and organizational policies and procedures.
Begin planning for winter 2026 leagues in partnership with the Commissioner and Sports Directors.
Plan out operational items needed for the remainder of 2025.
